The 2012-13 Panther squad has some pretty big shoes to fill coming off of such a successful season last year. In the 2011-12 campaign, they finished second in conference, first in sectionals, and nearly qualified for what may have been the last team state tournament. However, the Panthers, who had 9 sectional winners last year, return five of those sectional champs (G. Engelking, Montgomery, Holwager, G. Wilson, and L. Luhn). To complement this solid core of wrestlers, jennings has a full den of hungry underclassmen including a large and talented junior group. To open up the season, the varisty faced off with some solid talent at New Castle taking home the team championship, while the reserves wrestled very well in our JV invite.
It should be another exciting JC wrestling season. Check out the rest of the website for details throughout the season!

HHC Individual Championships
With many pointing to the Panther's ability to stack up well in individual tournaments, J.C. seems to be one of the favorites to take home a HHC Conference Championship. But if it were already set in stone, then we wouldn't need to wrestle. The Panthers are taking that message to heart, hoping to show this weekend that they can and will fulfill their potential. We hope to see as many Panther fans as possible to make the trip to New Albany. Let's make it seem like we're back here in Jennings County!! Wrestling starts on Saturday at 9:30 A.M.

Panther action this weekend
All Panther wrestlers will be in action this weekend either at the HHC Varsity duals in Jeffersonville or at the Robert Fugate Memorial Tournament in Scottsburg. The Varsity and select reserves make their way down South to take on some of the toughest team competition they'll see all year in Jeffersonville and Floyd Central. The Second Varsity and the remaining reserves will be competing in a traditionally solid tournament including many teams in South-Eastern Indiana. Both tournaments start tonight and continue tomorrow morning. Good luck Panthers! Bring us home a couple of titles!

Tuesday Night in the Panther Den
After nearly sweeping a solid Batesville team, the Panthers are coming home for their first home duel meet of the season. Our core of seniors and their supporting cast will be staring down the likes of a Brown County team that already sports a record of 8-2 this year. The Eagles have wins over Bloomington North and Edgewood, and in reference to like opponents, defeated Batesville 48-24. Look for a good tune up victory tonight that will give Jennings County a measuring stick in which to compare themselves to talent around the area. Hope to see you all there supporting the Panthers!

The season begins...
As has been the case the last few years in a row, the 2011-2012 Panther squad is shaping up to be one of the best that the high school has seen. While key seniors (Joey Resch, Justin Baldwin, Tyler Morrison, Alex Alcorn, Jarrod Holwager, Mark Collett during the year all possessed or vied for varsity spots) have moved on, the team has ten returning varsity wrestlers, four of whom were semi-state qualifiers. Seniors Iyan Bass, Jordan Gast, Brock Wathen, and underclassman Conner Montgomery all return to lead a senior heavy panther squad into a year that may shape up to be J.C. Wrestling's 13th and 21st Conference and Sectional titles, respectively. Last Saturday, Jennings County J.V. wrestlers kicked off the season with a lot of success (see "Results" page) at our home J.V. invitational. The 1st Varsity squad will open things up tonight at Batesville.
